4th of July Parade

When: July 4 2017 - July 4 2017
Time: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Each year, SYSC joins in with the rest of the City of Sheboygan to celebrate our nation’s independence in the 4th of July parade. We spend several days building a float for the parade, usually with a boat on it, along with any other creative our sailors have. Bring candy to give to the kids and wear something patriotic! Afterwards, all SYSC sailors are invited to the river to participate in the SEAS Cardboard Boat Regata.

The Parade
Friday, June 30th - During Free Sail Friday, we are looking for volunteers to help design and make the decorations for the float. We will be working on the float from 8-12, and if we finish early we can do some sailing as well! We are in need of long pieces of cardboard and blue spray paint to make "waves" to put on the float.
Monday, July 3rd- We will be assembling the float beginning at 2 PM. Hopefully we will be done by 5, the more people helping, the faster it will go!
Tuesday, July 4th- Sailors and parents are welcome to walk in the Sheboygan parade with SYSC! We will meet at SYSC at 7:45 and walk up the hill to Pennsylvania and 8th to get ready for the parade. We are in need of candy donations to pass out at the parade. We are also looking for a parent to drive the float in the parade - having a vehicle to pull the trailer with is a plus!
Cardboard Boat
We are also entered in the "Drifter Division" of the SEAS Castaway Challenge and we are looking for 4 sailors to make a cardboard boat for the competition. You will meet at 11:45 at Rotary Riverview Park to build the boat and compete!
If you or your child is planning on participating or donating materials, please let us know at info@sheboyganyouthsailing.com or (920) 459-0755.
