Youth and High School Sailing 2026-2027
Our fall and spring sailing seasons welcome sailors with all experience levels (even newcomers) from sixth through twelfth grades, from all private and public schools across Sheboygan County. 6th-8th grade sailors are encouraged to join our After School Youth Development sailing program, while 9th-12th grade sailors should participate in our High School Race Team.
Our After School Youth Development experience includes new sailors, sailors who are interested in enhancing their skills, and experienced sailors who would like a more detailed introduction to basic race skills.
Our High School Race Team is a program focused on expanding skills in performance sailing and racing. Students should already have basic sailing knowledge and be able to demonstrate the following:
1. Identify parts of the boat, sails, point of sail, sail controls, and which tack they are on
2. Understand basic right-of-way rules
3. Understand and perform basic sail trim
Coaches may assess sailors for success in the program based on skill performance across categories and prescribe the best class. There will be racing opportunities for all youth grades and Sheboygan North High racing members.
Additionally, we will provide lifejackets and drysuits for students to borrow during practices and regattas for the season.
If you are uncertain which program is right for you, please email info@sheboyganyouthsailing.com

What To Wear
Sailors should wear comfortable, close-toed shoes that can get wet! They should also wear clothes that are still comfortable when wet, a hat and sunglasses.
What To Bring
Remember, it can be cooler by the lake. Bring along a towel, sweatshirt or raincoat and sunscreen. We also recommend bringing along a snack and a water bottle. If you have your own lifejacket, bring it with you or wear one of ours.
