Openings for the 2020 Season
Lead Race Coach/Head Instructor
This coach will work closely with the director of SYSC to assist with managing the youth and/or adult staff and will lead the coaching of the summer youth race team. This person should have experience sailing and coaching 420s, Lasers and Optis and should have enthusiasm toward teaching both beginner and advanced racers. Responsibilities will include organizing race team practices and regattas, coaching at least two events each summer, teaching beginner adults and youth classes, some parent communication, minor boat maintenance (rigging). We prefer candidates with at least a US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Certification and a CPR Certification. Candidates are required to have previous coaching experience, experience towing a trailer, extensive experience operating a powerboat and must have mature verbal/written communication skills.
Youth Sailing Instructor
Our summer staff of youth sailing instructors teach a wide variety of youth sailors who come through our program. They should be prepared to teach groups of Opti Beginners as well as Private Lessons all the way up to 420 and Keelboat sailing. We offer training for new instructors and always aim to have a positive, safe and enjoyable working environment!
